Storytelling is a tradition going back thousands of years, of passing on information and knowledge. For us a story is best defined by Aristoteles: “A story has a beginning, a middle and an end.”
Telling is about selecting, presenting and communicating what you want to say, in all different ways that touch the senses, leave impressions and radiate outwards.
Here is some of what we have done. Everything starts with how we work with storytelling. We would love to come and talk to you about the way we see storytelling and about how we work with this method. When we come to give a talk we like to hold workshops to help you unfold the story that you want to tell.
With sensitivity to our requirements and curiosity along with the ability to understand this place and what we do Kistone helped us very professionally to unite the board and other parties around a common vision and target for development planning. A story framework composed of several parts was drawn up but also a clear prioritising of the various parts, which meant that we progressed beyond division and lack of clarity surrounding what we actually should be communicating about this destination. Regarding storytelling Kistone contributed insightful ideas as well as inspiring descriptions and illustrations about how these stories can be told. Visualizing our future development in this way was probably the success factor that led to the wide acceptance among interested parties.
I have worked with Kistone in two different contexts. Firstly in a creative context to develop concept and content for our Energy Action Centre and then to continue to manage and lead this project onwards. Kistone have the ability to be both playful and creative but at the same time extremely serious and attentive to the client’s opinions and considerations. A fantastic capacity to capture and turn thoughts and ideas into something tangible, inspiring and logical.
We consulted Kistone for guidance in working with storytelling at our visitor destinations. Our aim was to develop a working process that could be used for a number of destinations. An important part of this task was to use storytelling to consolidate the history of the destination and thereby increase interest and the visitors’ knowledge about the property and its cultural heritage. Kistone held workshops with us and with our tenants, where they very professionally created consensus and caught the participants’ interest in working with storytelling. Kistone showed great enthusiasm and their work was well structured. We feel that after completion we now had tools and models to go on to use internally.
Kistone helped us discover our own strengths and resources as well as inspiring us to grow. The winning concept was to involve all our staff to participate and feel pride in our work. The concept sketch and presentation Kistone delivered was receptive, bold and innovative.
Liseberg sells tickets, candy floss and rides. But what means most for our visitors is something quite different. It’s the expectation, the experience and the memories. In other words, emotions. That is what makes developing our product so incredibly complex. It demands a high degree of creativity and a structured and stringent approach to processing. We have found all of that in Kistone AB.
Kistone were of great value to us in leading a workshop on a vision for historical industrial visitor destinations in Västra Götaland. Thanks to their clarity and receptiveness we were able to assemble the various parties involved round our common questions and lay a firm foundation for future work.
Sotenäs consulted Kistone to develop a concept centred round Evert Taube and we are very pleased with the result. Kistone showed both professionalism in our work together and a depth of knowledge and enthusiasm in the subject. Thanks to the work Kistone did for us we believe Evert Taube will be a lasting and valuable attraction in our area.
We worked with Kistone for our new permanent exhibition “The Birth of Gothenburg” which has been a resounding success and widely praised in the Swedish museum sector. Kistone listened to us, were professional and super competent to work with and they were quick to understand the complexity of our questions. They both met and exceeded the very high expectations we placed on them and they took care with every detail in the exhibition process. It felt secure and it was very clear that they had considerable experience of working with major exhibition productions. The Museum of Gothenburg warmly recommends Kistone and would happily work with them again in the future!
